Testimonials
There isn’t a house visible from the entire course. Conventions are broken at every turn. There are two short par threes with elevated tees far above greens and neither is easy.
There’s a par four of under 350 yards with a humpback fairway and deep woods on both sides and a blind green from 100 yards out. The Stiles holes are mixed in with other holes and it doesn’t matter which are which, it holds together as a fun and challenging play.
We would always play late in the day and feel like CCB was our own private beautiful course.
On the first hole one evening Steve hit a power drive but lo and behold he and we couldn’t find his ball.
Only for John to discover his ball in the hole! It was unreported so I am trying to make up for that.
CCB is one of the best and prettiest courses in the country!
I started to play golf when I was 11. I lived in Massachusetts and my family moved to Barre in 1957 when I was 13. We arrived the night before our moving van arrived and stayed in a motel. The next morning, before going to our new home, my parents dropped me off at CCB.
I guess it is true that my first home in Vermont was the Country Club. I was fortunate enough to call this place home for over 55 years. >We all have good days and bad days, happy days and sad days, but we should always remember we also have lucky days and I have always considered that day in June 1957 to be one of my luckiest days. I hope you will reflect on your first time here and maybe it will also be one of your luckiest days.
